Happy Christmas Train and Tree Layout

Have you been by Custom Crops this week? Several of the designer have new files posted. All of the new files now post on Monday mornings so I will admit that CC is one of my Monday stops. I love to see what everyone has created.

One of my latest CC designs is a double page layout using Christmas Noel and Plantin Schoolbook and features this amazing tree and train. I am very pleased with how this layout came out.

In addition to the train, which is just stinkin' cute, I am really impressed with the tree ornaments on Christmas Noel. I especially like the long ornament which is detailed. I was afraid that my cricut would not do well with the small details but I put in a new blade and it went smoothly. There is a lot to be said for a shape blade and a new mat in the world of cricutting!

Click on the Custom Crops blinkie to the left and you will find the article which includes directions and the cut file for this project listed under my name. Enjoy!!

Priceless - Knowing Your True Worth

Happy Bitten by the Bug Monday! While I am not participating in the blog hop, I am happy that you hopped by. And speaking of hopping... Do you like my little frog Prince?

This week's BBTB challenge cut is to use the priceless cut from Graphically Speaking. I decided to use the tag with only a minor alteration; I added the word "is". Otherwise I used this adorable frog from the Sweethearts cartridge. And once again, I thought deeper than was necessary for the cut, but truly how many of us know our true worth. How wonderful if we could all appreciate ourselves!

Now on to why I did not participate in the blog hop... Because I am a horrid person and still have not gone to the post office and mailed my blog candy from the last blog hop... nor have I mailed the blog candy from the download guess. I have this big flaw in life.... I HATE going to the Post Office. But I DO PROMISE to get to the Post Office this week!!!!

So with the confessions being finished, I will get back to life... I have a busy week coming up. I will be finishing up the details for my husband's b-day party this Saturday. It is a casual event, but still requires a degree of planning and coordinating. And guess what? I have already designed the scrapbook pages in Design Studio!!!

A Gypsy-Fun Evening and Day

I am going to confess right up front that I set the cable box to record the HSN Gypsy debut as well as set a reminder so that I would be parked in front of the TV at the appointed hour. I am also going to confess to being up FAR too late last night/this morning.

Provo Craft was celebrating their tenth birthday with the debut sales of the Gyspy handheld design device. They put together a special bundle of products for the release and, not surprising, sold out shortly after noon today. But they had a fabulous twelve hours! And yes, I made my purchase early, early this morning!!!

I am so excited to receive my gypsy... I said that I would set up an outpost in the front yard to stalk the UPS truck, but I fear the neighbors would talk.... and worry!!! And too, I have far too much to do with planning dh's birthday party (10 days away) .

I suspect that dh's party will not be as festive as Provo Craft's party. PC gave away a Gypsy, an Expression, and cartridges on Twitter last night. Yes, I signed up for Twitter to be part of the party!!! Dh's party will be more like SC BBQ, friends, gifts..... Poor dh!

Have you looked at the Gypsy Wandering & Gypsy Font cartridges? I opened Design Studio and previewed the cartridges... that got me even more excited. I like so many of the images on the cartridges...
You do know that there will be more in the gypsy in the future.... much more.... but for now I will close with an explanation of the project photos in this post. This is a card idea I am working on for the Grandmothers. Each family member will have a panel in this accordion card. Each family member will have to write a note on the pull out tag.

I think the Grandmoms will like this a lot as it will be personalized for each of them.

Happy Cricutting....

Stamping With My Cricut

After yesterday's wonderful package from Provo Craft for my guest designer spot at Christmas With The Cricut, I just had to play with my new toys. I Love, love, LOVE the Cricut embossing folders; I should have been using these for sometime. I also tried out the Cricut stamp set.

Everything I have read indicated that simple, less detailed cuts should be selected. I decided to try something very simple for my first try. I just adore the boxers and baby-doll pj set on the new Sweethearts cartridge.

Take seriously the advise to use a new cutting mat. After trial and error I switched to a new mat and it worked like a charm.

It took a bit of practice to get the stamped image to come out as nicely as I desired. Then suddenly I realized that I liked the uneven effect. :-) I cut out the stamped images and using pop dots, attached them to the clothesline on my card.

I finished off my card with a phase printed on cardstock using my computer and printer. I cut the phrase and matting using the long rectangle nestabilities and the scalloped long rectangle nestability. All in all, I think I like my first attempt with the Cricut stamps!!

Megan Fox knows for a fact

Just in case you weren't convinced Megan Fox's mouth is a never-ending faucet of WTF, here she is explaining to Teen Hollywood how she recently overcame her fear of flying:

"I developed that (a fear of flying) when I turned 20. All of a sudden I got really afraid to get on airplanes. I had to come up with a way to deal with it because I didn't want to have panic attacks every time I get on a plane.

I know for a fact it's not in my destiny to die listening to a Britney Spears album, so I always put that on in my (headphones) when I'm flying because I know it wont crash if I've got Britney on.

Let me get this straight: Megan Fox knows for a fact she won't die listening to a Britney Spears album. Wow.

So, remember when Michael Bay said he cast Megan in Transformers after videotaping her washing his Ferrari? I'm 90% certain that's a cover story for finding her in an alley talking to a can of soup.

Loving This Monday

I just have to share: FedEx just left an amazing package at my door! As you probably know, I have been selected to guest design at Christmas With The Cricut in November. Provo Craft is a major sponsor of CWTC. Provo Craft agreed to send the guest designers the Winter Woodlands cartridge, which will be the featured November cartridge at CWTC. So, I expected a cartridge and maybe one other product. We were told we could request the stamping or embossing kit and that we MIGHT get one of them.

My box contained not just the cartridge, but also a plethora of additional product!! I had not one, not two, but three Cricut stamping kits, two Cricut embossing kits, and one embossing refill kit. Can you say THANK YOU, PROVO CRAFT??? Thank you so much! What a great Monday morning surprise!

Lindsay Lohan is a cracked-out diva

“Don’t f-cking touch me,” Lindsay muttered, and no one did anything! How about calling the cops on her dumb ass? Eh. How long will Lindsay continue to even be invited to these events? And what bothers me more is that Lindsay pulled this sh-t in front of her sister. Great message for Ali, right? Be a cracked out diva, hiss “don’t f-cking touch me” and everything will go your way.

Yesterday, Jaybird wrote about Life & Style’s cover story this week, in which a source claims “Anything Lindsay does, Ali wants to do.” This includes dressing alike, “looking shockingly skinny and sporting plumped-up lips.” So how long before we begin reading Page Six reports about Ali’s psycho, cracked-out diva behavior? And you know Ali wants to be the kind of “celebrity” Lindsay is. You know, the kind of “celebrity” that never works, perpetuates neverending drama, breaks into her own home (allegedly) and gets sued all the time. Tragic.

Oh, and in case anyone cares, Lindsay Lohan just tweeted that regardless of whatever rumor is spreading like wildfire, she is not in a psych ward. Lindsay wrote: “Hahahaha my publicist just called me & said she heard I was in a psych ward!!!! Hahaha WHAT IS WRONG with people???? I’m working lol…BUT that’s one I’ve NEVER heard about myself before! New ones r always interesting huh? There’s SO much more going on in the world! Wake up.”

Oh, Lindsay. She’s so wise. Tell us more about what’s happening in the rest of the world, Lindsay!

Spooky Halloween Decor

I had a wonderful surprise today: I received a surprise UPS delivery from Custom Crops. It contained two spray cans of Crafter's Companion, a new product for cleaning and resurfacing your cricut mats. Also in the box was the new cartridge, Winter Woodlands. Sweet!!

I wasn't feeling 100% today; my allergies in over-drive with sneezing, sniffling, coughing and general snorting (well not really) pretty much confined me to the house. What a perfect day to play with a new cartridge.

Maria, a member of the Custom Crops design team, made THE CUTEST 3D Halloween house using Winter Woodlands. Sadly she did not use design studio so there was no cut file. I thought I would have a go at my own 3D Haunted House.

I used Bldg 5 on the cartridge, and set the cutting size to 10 inches for all parts of the house. Like Maria, I used Paper Doll Dress Up for my haunting pieces: Ghosts, spider webs, mummies, etc.

I mounted my house, tree, tombstones, and assorted confetti trim on a piece of 12 x 12 hunter green cardstock and placed it the Haunted 3D scene in a Southern Living at Home tray. The tray will make it easy to relocate the house should need arise, but also it looks cut on my coffee table.

By the way, I have not stated how awesome the Winter Woodlands seems to be. I cannot wait to spend more time playing!!

Guest Designer Gig at Chirstmas With the Cricut

Can you say EXCITED??? I am super excited (or is that Uber-excited?)! I have been selected to be a guest designer for a week in November at the Christmas with the Cricut blog site. Joy, Melanie and Tammy have the most wonder Cricut Christmas site on the Internet. Each week follows the same format, with new projects everyday. For example, today is simple card Monday. I have been so inspired and excited by the daily project that I was amazed when I was approached to be a guest designer.

Saying yes, Yes, YES! was a no-brainer for me: I love Christmas, I love my cricky, and I know that these ladies are just awesome. So no way I was not going to say YES! And I was doubly excited to see that I will be sharing my design week with Jeannie (from A Place for My Card blog). Jeannie is someone that I have never met in person but can just tell from reading her posting on both her blog and the cricut MB that she is a sweet, sweet woman!! I may be in over my head, but I will have great company as I go down!

Jeannie and I will be featuring the Winter Woodlands and From My Kitchen cartridges for our week of as guest designer. I have already designed two of my projects, but I am floundering for the other four....

The guest designer schedule at CWTC for the month of November follows:

November 1-7

November 8 - 14

November 15 - 21

November 22 - 28

Megan Fox and her Transformers director Michael Bay

This is how it begins. And ends. Not with a bang, but with a “screw you”. Here’s the thing - I totally think Megan deserved to be called out, and continues to deserve to be called out for her dumb, outrageous, ignorant, unprofessional, nasty behavior and words. I’m just not sure I want to call her out while defending Michael Bay, who seems like an a-hole too. Plus, I’d like to see Megan really face some more serious consequences for her behavior - like, a line of producers and directors declaring that they have no interest in working with her.

This is an open letter to all Michael Bay fans. We are three crew members that have worked with Michael for the past ten years. Last week we read the terrible article with inflammatory, truly trashing quotes by the Ms. Fox about Michael Bay. This letter is to set a few things straight.

Yes, Megan has great eyes, a tight stomach we spray with glycerin, and an awful silly Marilyn Monroe tattoo plastered on her arm that we cover up to keep the moms happy.

Michael found this shy, inexperienced girl, plucked her out of total obscurity thus giving her the biggest shot of any young actresses’ life. He told everyone around to just trust him on his choice. He granted her the starring role in Transformers, a franchise that forever changed her life; she became one of the most googled and oogled women on earth. She was famous! She was the next Angelina Jolie, hooray! Wait a minute, two of us worked with Angelina – second thought – she’s no Angelina. You see, Angelina is a professional.

We know this quite intimately because we’ve had the tedious experience of working with the dumb-as-a-rock Megan Fox on both Transformers movies. We’ve spent a total of 12 months on set making these two movies.

We are in different departments; we can’t give our names because sadly doing so in Hollywood could lead to being banished from future Paramount work. One of us touches Megan’s panties, the other has the often shitty job of pulling Ms. Sour pants out of her trailer, while another is near the Panaflex camera that helps to memorialize the valley girl on film.

Megan has the press fooled. When we read those magazines we wish we worked with that woman. Megan knows how to work her smile for the press. Those writers should try being on set for two movies, sadly she never smiles. The cast, crew and director make Transformers a really fun and energetic set. We’ve traveled around the world together, so we have never understood why Megan was always such – the grump of the set?

When facing the press, Megan is the queen of talking trailer trash and posing like a porn star. And yes we’ve had the unbearable time of watching her try to act on set, and yes, it’s very cringe-able. So maybe, being a porn star in the future might be a good career option. But make-up beware, she has a paragraph tattooed to her backside (probably due her rotten childhood) easily another 45 minutes in the chair!

John Mayer has been nailing Jessica Simpson

Ugh. This report might have pushed John Mayer over the edge from “douche” to “sociopath”. Who grabs girls and tells them “You’re property of John Mayer”? What guy gets turned on by humiliating women? What guy is so content to play these little “I-want-you-no-I-don’t” games for years? What guy swoops in on a really vulnerable girl and seduces her right after she’s been dumped? But we’re supposed to think he’s cute, right? Gross, gross, gross.

Call me crazy, but I’m starting to think John Mayer has been nailing Jessica Simpson ever since Tony Romo dumped her. The most important evidence has been staring us in the face this whole time - namely, that John Mayer hasn’t issued one word, one denial, one confirmation, one peep about Jessica since she and Tony split. This from a guy who can’t take a dump without tweeting the size and color, so you know Jessica didn’t just slip his mind. Jessica is totally having rebound sex with John, and John is feeling a mixture of shame, pleasure, pity and lust. Thus, he’s been keeping quiet.

Mayer was in the news this week for two reasons - first, the rumor exploded that he had been quietly hooking up with reality star Kristin Cavallari. John denied this within a day, dusting off his keyboard to “amuse” us with this: “How do I put this like a gentleman…I have never high fived Kristin Cavallari with my pen*s.” Stay classy. That report came out the same day as In Touch Weekly’s cover story “Jessica Simpson’s Desperate Hookup”… with John. Not one word about it from John. So let’s just take every word of the full cover story as gospel, shall we?
